A Celebration of Life and Legacy for Dr. David O Jones of Emelle, Alabama; Retired Superintendent of the Sumter County, Alabama School System who passed away, Tuesday, March 21, 2023 will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Salem AME Zion Church, 4415 Claude Jackson 35, Panola, Alabama. Reverend Arthur Lee Gilliam, III, Church Pastor is to officiate. Interment to follow in the Salem Memorial Garden in Panola. Public viewing and visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023 at McInnis Mortuary in Livingston, Alabama and He will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the Church. McInnis Mortuary of Livingston entrusted with all arrangements.


Left to cherish memories is his loving and devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Laura Mae Willingham Jones; his children, Jovita (Wayne) Lewis, and Dorinda Jones, two grand- children, Arielle Lewis, and Lauryn Lewis, one sister, T. Cora Haynesworth, and two brothers, Reverend Willie C. (Cheryl) Jones, and Franklin Jones, one sister-in-law, Daisy Willingham, and one brother-in-law, Roy Willingham, Sr., a niece who was raised up in the house with him like a sister, Carolyn (James) Dailey, ; two nephews who were raised up in the house with him like brothers, Bobby (Mary) Jones, and Benny (Ludie) Jones, other dear nieces and nephews, cousins (The Dents, The Densmores, and The Sparks), other relatives, the Greater Salem church family, Emelle neighbors, former students, former colleagues, and friends.
